Aaron Gershenberg is a highly respected figure in the venture capital industry, having founded SVB Capital in 1999. Over the past 23 years, he built it into a multi-strategy global venture capital investment platform that manages approximately $10B with an inception-to-date track record of over 20% net IRR. As a seasoned venture capitalist and technology entrepreneur, Aaron has a wealth of experience identifying and investing in innovative startups.
During his 23-year tenure at Silicon Valley Bank, Aaron was pivotal in building the global fund of funds, direct funds, Secondaries, and Debt business for SVB Capital. He deeply understands the technology landscape and has eye for spotting emerging trends and opportunities. Aaron retired as a GP in January of 2023 and is now a Senior Advisor and Founding Partner Emeritus to SVB Capital.
Aaron focuses on impact investing across Mental Health, Africa, Edtech, and Fintech. Most recently, he helped launch the One Mind Mental Health Accelerator, which had its first cohort of 11 companies. He joined the board of the Meltwater Entrepreneurship School of Technology, which is a pan-African School in Accra, Ghana teaching students to code and funding some of their business plans. Aaron graduated from Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and Wesleyan University. Growing up, he spent four years in Uganda and Kenya.
Aaron is on the board of Best Buddies International, helping those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Over the years has served on the boards of non-profits focused on education. His long-term goal is to establish sustainable business models that have a meaningful impact on Mental Health, Education, and Economic Development.
