Abelia, a trade and employers association associated with Norways largest employers' organisation; the NHO (The Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise), has partnered with us. Held alongside one of the world’s strongest chess tournaments, Norway Chess, Norway Summit creates a unique meeting point where business, technology, and chess intersect.
Gunilla Resare, Marketing Director at Abelia, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration:
“We are excited to collaborate with Norway Summit, which serves as a business hub during Norway Chess. There’s a clear connection between our vision of a digital and sustainable knowledge society and chess, where strategy and swift moves drive progress. We look forward to offering our members access to one of Norway's most inspiring business forums in the Stavanger region, where knowledge, expertise, and chess are central themes.”
The partnership will strengthen ties between chess and areas like competence building, education, strategy, STEM subjects, and Abelia’s goal of fostering a sustainable knowledge society. This collaboration benefits both organizations.
Another shared priority is gender equality and diversity. Both the tech industry and chess have traditionally been male-dominated. Abelia actively promotes women in technology and leadership, while Norway Chess made history in 2024 by hosting the world’s first equal elite tournament for women.
Øystein Olsen, chairman of Norway Summit, called the partnership a “perfect match”:
“We are delighted to partner with Abelia. With their strong network in technology and our focus on issues at the intersection of technology and finance, we complement each other uniquely.”
As part of the collaboration, Abelia will join the board and organizing committee for Norway Summit, enhancing the conference’s role as a vital business forum in the Stavanger region.
Resare also shared her excitement about joining the board alongside chairman Øystein Olsen, current board member Henrik Carlsen, co-founder and board member Kjell Madland, and co-founder, CEO, and board member Benedicte Westre Skog:
“It is a great honor to be elected to the board of Norway Summit, and I look forward to contributing to the further development of this exciting conference.”
Welcome aboard, Abelia!
