Yuri Milner is a Russian entrepreneur, venture capitalist and physicist. He founded the investment firms Digital Sky Technologies (DST), now called Mail.ru Group and DST Global.

DST Global became one of the world’s leading technology investors and its portfolio has included some of the world’s most prominent internet companies, such as Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Airbnb, Spotify, Alibaba, Groupon, Flipkart, Zynga and others.

 

Milner was named one of the World’s Greatest Leaders by Fortune magazine in March 2017.
He was listed in the “Titans” category of Time magazine’s 2016 Time 100.
Foreign Policy magazine included Milner to its “Power List” – an inaugural list of 500 most powerful people on the planet released in May, 2013.
He was included in Bloomberg Markets’ 2012 50 Most Influential list.
He was on the 2010 Fortunes list of the World’s 50 most prominent businessmen.
He was recognized by Russian business magazine Vedomosti as “Businessman of the Year”.

In July 2015, Milner launched the Breakthrough Initiatives, a major new scientific program investigating the question of life in the Universe. He announced the initiatives at the Royal Society in London, alongside Stephen Hawking, Martin Rees, Frank Drake, Geoff Marcy and Ann Druyan.
